Remember my previous post where I predicted 32-35 MPG? Yeah. Just had to fuel up once, I liked to stay at 78 mph for the most part. 80 mph and higher will make it drop below 40 MPG. Calculated MPG was 39.2. This was impressive for carrying my stuff. Filling up and paying only for 87 octane is a great feeling as well. I’ve always wanted the mileage of a diesel while being fun to drive and this thing is a great alternative IMO, just try to get the manual.

Nah its all about the smiles per gallon! I find it an achievement when im able to get my gas mileage low enough. The lowest I have managed in my Miata is about 18 mpg. Full day of driving in and around the tail of the dragon. Typically I see about 28 mpg and just the day before I had gotten 33 mpg on the highway. I was so happy when I barely got 200 miles out of my 12 gallon tank!

My Miata’s low tank is 19.35.
Which I did by daily driving it . To be fair, given that my Miata doesn’t like the whole concept of gentle driving, that’s not too surprising, but the BP-4W is not exactly a high-tech, efficient engine.
Which explains why the cabin is piping hot in a mile of cold weather driving...

Oh yes, I have NEVER been cold while driving my car haha. Thankfully the AC works still so I can combat the heat in the summer. I’ve run the AC in the winter though during long trips. Too cold to put the top down at night, too hot to have it up, windows down on the highway sucks, and then I have the AC running while its 40 degrees outside lol.

Still jealous of your Civic.
How’s the climate control? The AC and heat in my 15 Civic have never been great, just adequate. My wife’s 5 year older Corolla runs circles around my car with the HVAC system.

Now with two occupants and less stuff on the return trip I averaged 46 MPG over the first leg of my return trip along 60 mph state highways (including the initial town portion), which was about 35 miles of driving, mostly 65 mph cruising. After that I gradually dropped back to 39-40 MPG at the end with mostly 78-82 mph driving and some pulls (mostly flying past oblivious left lane bandits :P and keeping up with my brother)
It’s a nice automatic climate control system. I usually ran it from 72-76 degrees so as to not overstress it and it blows a lot of air to get that temp down for a while, then you start to feel your set temperature in no time! I noticed sometimes leaving it on auto will make it recirculate the air as well. Not sure why. And this is not in econ mode.
